Dr. Elizabeth McCandlish is an Instrument Specialist in the
BRTC/EOHSI Analytical Core. She specializes in metal analysis
using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP/MS) and
develops new methods when necessary. She trains students and
postdocs to use ICP/MS. Her Ph.D. is in physical inorganic
chemistry, from the University of Washington. Previously she
worked for Colgate Palmolive, developing soap, detergent, and
personal care products. As a postdoctoral fellow and visiting
scientist at Rutgers, she synthesized inorganic materials,
especially in inert atmospheres and in pressure vessels.
