Dr. Qi Wang has extensive experiences in molecular biology, bioinformatics, genetics and protein chemistry. She obtained a Ph.D degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Indiana University and a master degree in Bioinformatics and Computational biology from University of Pennsylvania.

Following postdoctoral training at University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine, Dr. Wang joined GlaxoSmithKline Inc. in 2001 as a Principal Scientist in the Department of Disease & Biomarker Transcriptomics. At GSK, she utilized various genetic approaches to support gene target identification and biomarker nomination in different disease areas, including cancer, metabolic diseases, urogenital diseases and osteoarthritis. She had led a number of scientific data analysis projects to identify disease markers using genomics data derived from preclinical animal models and human tissues. She has served as a team leader in toxicogenomics studies to nominate drug toxicity markers by analyzing large scale rat toxicogonomics data.

Dr. Wang joined UMDNJ in 2005 as a supervisor in project management and technology development at BRTC.
